Sixteen Year Old Frozen Semen Collection

Synbiotics Corporation would like to congratulate Joni Freshman, DVM on the successful delivery of a Belgian Tervuren litter of seven.

The litter born on February 13, 2008 was conceived by transcervical insemination using semen from Dr. Freshman’s stud dog, U-AgII U-CD CH Zephyre's Altair Sorcerer CD AX OAJ TT CGC TDI HIC OAC-V OJC-V that was collected March 5, 1992. The litter and their dam, CH Zephyre Chutes and Ladders PT JHD TT CGC, continue to do well. Ovulation timing for the Transcervical insemination was accomplished utilizing Witness® LH to precisely determine the Luteinizing Hormone (LH) surge which leads to ovulation. The puppies were born precisely 65 days after the LH surge as determined by Witness® LH. For pictures of the four girls and three boys, please refer to Dr. Freshman’s website at www.zephyre.net.

Synbiotics Corporation Announces Human Submission for FluDetect

Kansas City, Missouri: March 12, 2008 – Synbiotics Corporation today announced that it is seeking 510(k) authorization from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the use of its FluDetect® Avian Influenza Virus rapid test strip in humans. This represents Synbiotics first foray into the human point-of-care diagnostic marketplace. While it is not Synbiotics’ initial intent to market this product itself to the human field, it is actively seeking an established strategic human diagnostic partner, to market, sell and distribute this product.

Currently, the FluDetect® product is the only USDA approved rapid point of care test for avian influenza in the veterinary field. FluDetect® has been heralded for its extreme sensitivity in a simple to use test format that requires no equipment, nor extensive training to perform. Management believes this may be the first crossover test to be licensed for use both in humans and animals and can be a vital tool to healthcare institutions for both seasonal flu testing as well as in endemic situations.

“The feedback we have received on the outstanding field performance of FluDetect® in avian influenza has encouraged us to seek human use,” said Paul Hays, Synbiotics’ President & Chief Executive Officer. “It is our goal to find a partner in a timely fashion to be prepared to enter the human market for the 2008-2009 flu season,” said Hays. Inquiries by potential partners should be made to Ronan Molloy at ronanm@synbiotics.com.

Synbiotics Corporation develops, manufactures and markets veterinary diagnostic products for the poultry, livestock and companion animal markets worldwide. Synbiotics Corporation Announces FluDETECT Avian Influenza Virus Test Meets Live Bird Market Standards

At the annual Live Bird Market Working Group Meeting, Miami, Florida, February 20-21, 2008 the nomination was made to include in the LBMS Uniform Standards a USDA licensed type A Influenza antigen capture immunoassay (ACIA) test to detect Influenza A nucleoprotein and for use as an official screening test for Avian Influenza. The ACIA must be conducted using test kits approved by USDA and the State and must be conducted in accordance with recommendations of the manufacturer and to follow the guidelines as written in the LBMS Uniform Standards document.

Currently the only commercial USDA licensed rapid screening test for Avian Influenza is the FluDETECT® Rapid Test Kit manufactured by Synbiotics Corporation, Kansas City, Missouri. FluDETECT®, an ACIA test, is also an official methodology approved by the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP). “The inclusion of USDA approved rapid antigen tests in the LBMS Uniform Standards is great news for consumers and the poultry industry and Synbiotics’ FluDETECT® product was designed as a screening test and is well suited for such field use as is encountered at live bird markets”, said Paul Hays, President & CEO of Synbiotics Corporation.
