San Diego, California: August 28, 2006 — Synbiotics Corporation today
announced that it is relocating its corporate headquarters and research & development
facilities to Kansas City, Missouri. Synbiotics was founded in San Diego
in 1982 and has become a leading veterinary diagnostic firm which develops,
manufacturers and markets veterinary diagnostics, instrumentation and
related products and services for the poultry, livestock and companion
animal markets worldwide. Synbiotics is an expert in avian influenza
surveillance and early detection. Synbiotics maintains two manufacturing
operations, one each in San Diego, California and Lyon, France.
“We began a search late in the 4th quarter of last year to relocate our headquarters
and R&D functions to be closer to our customer base, to universities excelling
in veterinary research and to potential collaborators in the form of veterinary
vaccine manufacturers. Considering Kansas City’s concentration of animal health
companies, technology and resources was very appealing to us,” said Paul Hays,
Synbiotics’ President and CEO at Synbiotics Corp. “We knew this is where we needed
to be.”
“The abundance and quality of educated and trained scientists and skilled workforce
available to us by locating to the Kansas City area was very important to our
decision,” said Hays. “The numerous area universities with veterinary colleges
performing world-class research into the immunology and molecular biology of
animal diseases provides opportunities for Synbiotics to hire trained professionals
and license or acquire cutting edge technology”
The company is negotiating final lease terms for space in a local commercial
facility. It is estimated that the relocation will be completed by March 2007.
The company intends to bring approximately 35 management and research jobs here
immediately and will likely add another 10 over the next few years. Synbiotics
has 112 employees world-wide today.

San Diego, California: August 21, 2006 — Synbiotics Corporation today
announced that it recorded a 7 percent increase in revenues for the first
six months of 2006 compared with the same period in 2005. Revenues for
the first six months totaled $10,815,000 compared with $10,140,000 for
the same period last year. Sales growth was lead by the company’s avian
influenza line.
Paul Hays, Synbiotics' President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Our flu
portfolio has demonstrated that Synbiotics is a leader in the area of flu diagnostics.
Our Flu Detect® avian influenza type A antigen test strip and ProFLOK® AIV Plus
avian influenza antibody ELISA test kits have been well received by poultry producers,
veterinary diagnostic laboratories and public health organizations throughout
the world.”
Operating expenses for the first half year 2006 were significantly reduced due
to savings realized through costs spared as a result of key efforts implemented
in 2005 including: the company now being private, the restructuring of debt and
the reorganization within French affiliate, Synbiotics Europe SAS.
"We are very pleased with our results. Clearly the programs we implemented
in 2005 have achieved the intended result,” Hays said.
