Synbiotics Corporation was formed by key management and researchers
of Scripps-Miles, Inc., a former joint venture between Scripps Clinic & Research
Foundation, one of the world’s leading immunology research institutes and
Miles Laboratories, a commercial leader in human health care. At its inception,
Synbiotics was funded through contract research revenues, principally from
Miles Laboratories for the exclusive supply of bulk monoclonal antibodies
and immunodiagnostic kits.
1983
Developed and produced for Miles Laboratories, the first monoclonal
antibody commercially available in an FDA approved diagnostic kit.
1984
Completed an initial public offering raising $3.4 million.
October 1984
Introduced CRF, an immunodiagnostic for canine rheumatoid
factor.
1985
Introduced DiroCHEK®, the first immunodiagnostic kit for heartworm;
still considered the gold standard; and ViraCHEK® FeLV an immunodiagnostic
kit for feline leukemia virus.
1989
Introduced VacSYN/FeLV® a state-of-the-art vaccine for feline leukemia.
1990
Ceased all human health development activities.
1992
Acquired diagnostic product line from Pitman-Moore (Coopers).
1993
Launched dog and cat vaccine line acquired from Smith-Kline Beecham.
1995
Introduced ICT Gold®, the first point of care diagnostic kit for heartworm
detection.
1996
Acquired International Canine Genetics, a leader in reproduction diagnostics
and services.
July 1997
Acquired Rhone Mérieux diagnostic business in Lyon, France.
1997
Launched WITNESS® brand point of care diagnostic line utilizing Rapid Immuno-Migration
(RIM™) technology.
1998
Acquired Prisma Instruments clinical chemistry business.
1999
Acquired W3Commerce LLC, an internet marketing services provider,
with the goal to become the leading internet portal for e-commerce in animal
health.
2000
Acquired KPL’s poultry diagnostic business.
2001
Divested W3Commerce subsidiary and ceased vaccine business allowing
dedication to development and manufacturing of diagnostics and advancement
of the canine reproduction segment.
2002
Redwood Holdings, LLC acquires majority equity in Synbiotics Corporation.
2002
Divested Prisma Instruments clinical chemistry business.
2005
Synbiotics reverse splits common stock, reducing its shareholders
of record below 300,
deregistering all its securities and eliminating SEC reporting requirements.
2007
Synbiotics relocates headquarters to Kansas City, Missouri.
